The organism remains as untamed as Jacob’s “wanton woman”

FAR FROM YIELDING ITSELF to the restrictive proprieties of mathematically analyzable information, DNA participates shamelessly in a living story. If meaning, unreduced and therefore “unnaturalized” — meaning that truly informs the organism — is Jacob’s wanton woman, then the organism remains as wonderfully wanton as ever. It is a living agent — a being — weaving a narrative through the expressive gesturings that are the forms and meanings of its incarnated existence.
