Introduction to Winter Wildlife Tracking
at The Nature Institute
When the snow flies and the winds blow our outdoor environment
is transformed. All at once we are better able to follow
the tracks and signs of our wildlife neighbors, tracking
their activities and discerning their habits. Where does
the fox go? And the weasel? How do animals move through
the winter landscape? Come and enjoy an introduction to
wildlife tracking through the woods and meadows around The
Nature Institute in Harlemville on Saturday, January 22nd,
and Saturday, February 12th, from 9 a.m. to noon. Wilderness-skills
instructors Michael Pewtherer and Jonathan Talbott will
lead the workshops. The two workshops are independent; participants
may attend either or both. All ages and experience levels
are welcome. Workshop fee: $15 per person,
or $30 per family, $8 students. Each workshop will
begin at The Nature Institute, 20 May Hill Road in Ghent,
NY (Harlemville). Bring warm clothing and boots, and binoculars
if you have them. Workshops will take place with or without
snow on the ground, but not during a storm. In case of inclement
weather, call Michael Pewtherer at (518) 672-7018. For more
information, or to pre-register, contact The Nature Institute
at (518) 672-0116 or
info@natureinstitute.org.
